Peter (born 1945)
Glenn Ford, a Columbia contract player, changed the course of Eleanor's life when he married her in 1943. Their match was not made in heaven. At the time, Eleanor was already contemplating retirement, while Ford had not made his mark in films yet, and was still in the U.S. Marine Corps. This was to be her only marriage and proved to be a difficult one. She found rumors of Ford's many affairs hard to deal with; however, Eleanor`s strong religious beliefs kept this marriage going for 16 years. The next few years were spent as a housewife and mother. Her son Peter Ford was born February 5, 1945, the same year Glenn was released from the Marines. His career took off quickly with Gilda (1946), Framed (1947), and The Loves of Carmen (1948).
Eleanor's devotion to her religion and family helped her through a most difficult period; her divorce from Glenn Ford became official November 1959.
