The strain of chasing Hollywood careers has been blamed for the marriage break-up of Kiwi heart-throb Grant Bowler and Australian actress Roxane Wilson.
Outrageous Fortune hunk Bowler's star is on a rapid rise in the US. He is about to explode on to the screen in action-thriller blockbuster Killer Elite – alongside A-listers Jason Statham, Robert De Niro and Clive Owen.
On the eve of the movie's debut in the States, Wilson – star of Aussie soap Home and Away – says the demands of their acting ambitions led to a split.
"Finally things were happening for Grant (but) we're not together anymore," Wilson told the Daily Telegraph. "That's one of the costs of the journey."
The pair split last year.
Bowler became a household name in New Zealand playing lead role of `Wolf West' in the multi-award winning TV series Outrageous Fortune.
The role proved to a springboard for him to land parts in hit American TV shows Ugly Betty and True Blood.
He is also fronting the 2011 version of The Amazing Race Australia.
Bowler, who turns 43 tomorrow, married former model Wilson, 41, in 2001.
They have two children; Eddie, 8, and Zeke, 6.
While Bowler's career is taking off in the States, Wilson is yet to land her career-defining role.
She recently returned to America after filming a three-month stint on Home and Away.
"I certainly have many dark nights when I go, `Is this worth it'?" Wilson said. "If you pursue any dream there's going to be times when you go, `At what cost?'.
"I'm a persistent person, stubborn and determined. There is something about this country [America] that keeps calling me back."
