Michael Essein was enjoying a relationship with Lurata Murati when he first met Cassie Sumner. When Lurata and Michael broke up, Lurata claimed that Essien and Sumner had an affair while they were together.
Cassie and Michael were pictured all around town so it was no surprise when Cassie was featured on WAGs Boutique as Essein`s girlfriend. Half way into the show, Essien claimed Cassie wasn`t his girlfriend and that they were just friends.
After the show ended, in true Sumner fashion, Cassie sat down for a kiss and tell interview.
According to Cassie Sumner, the ex-girlfriend, Essien was obsessed with purity and cleanliness during their brief 17 month relationship.
News of the World reports all the saucy details of their bizaire relationship. While most WAGS (wives and girlfriends of soccer players), are expected to jump at any whim a footballer may fancy, Sumner describes a more subdued relationship.
"I`ve got to be honest, sex with Michael wasn`t fantastic. In fact towards the end of our relationship we only did it once every three months."
The puritanical relationship was furthered by Essien`s demand that his girlfriend wear white to bed, and the infrequent sex be on white sheets.
"He said white was virginal and was what girlfriends should wear. The same went for where we had sex. It was always on crisp white sheets on his bed and never anywhere else."
Cassie Sumner wasn`t all that broken up about it. On a break in Monaco last July Essien, who earns £3 million a year, splashed out about £8,000 on clothes for Cassie in one day alone.
He also bought her a new BMW, and paid for her trips.
Essien`s weakness was reportedly McVitie`s Chocolate Digestive biscuits.
Oddly enough, News of the World states that Essien has completely denied this relationship ever happened.
