1940 ***** Weds Pilot School Head In a surprise wedding Friday night, Elaine Shepard, RKO screen player who recently completed a war bond tour in Texas, became the bride of Col. Gorge F. Hartman, commanding officer of the advanced two-engine pilot school at Marfa Army Air Field. The couple had been childhood sweethearts in Lawrenceville, Ill., and renewed their courtship after a 12-year interval when the screen player appeared at the Marfa rodeo to sell war bonds early in September.
