Rogers claimed that he’d spied a 19-year old Norma Jeane Baker, Marilyn’s real name, in the crowd as he was riding his horse Trigger in Vegas’ Helldorado Parade in 1946. “I thought she was a beauty,” he told Linda. “I pulled Trigger to a halt and hoisted her up onto my saddle.”
As his future wife Evans rode a block behind, Rogers invited the beauty to a barbecue that night.
