"SINGER Matt Goss today reveals the agony he went through as he tried to cope with the drug addiction of Gossard bra model Sophie Anderton.
Former Bros star Matt, 29, who is fiercely anti-drugs, was falling in love with the 20-year-old supermodel until he discovered she had:
LIED to him about giving up drugs and
SNORTED cocaine when they were supposed to be on romantic dates.
Matt reluctantly decided a long-term relationship with Sophie - the dream girl of millions of men after her bra adverts - was impossible. He told The Sunday People: "Within 48 hours of meeting her she had taken drugs when I was with her in a club."
The pop star, who admits he had started making plans for the future with stunning Sophie, said: "She became erratic and strange. I thought, 'I'm not getting involved in this', it's mad. I just had to walk out and leave her.
"I hoped afterwards we could make a go of it but Sophie had to sort herself out first and I couldn't make her do that.
"The love of my life and my heart has to be in a good mood because she is happy with me - not just from sticking something up her nose."
Matt has spoken for the first time about their relationship after claims that the couple had a fight in public last week.
Sophie, who is back from a US detoxification clinic after a drink and drugs overdose six weeks ago, sobbed as she spoke to Matt at a Spice Girls party in London's Cafe de Paris club.
Onlookers believed she was upset after seeing pictures of Matt out on the town with his ex- love, Big Breakfast presenter Melanie Sykes.
But Matt said: "There was no fight between me and Sophie. We are great friends. In fact I was comforting her because she was crying.
"Two of her mates, whom she hadn't seen since her time in the rehab clinic, had run away from her without talking.
"Sophie rushed after them followed by her bodyguard. He stopped her having a confrontation and I happened to be standing by.

"She was crying so I think I just did the right thing and held her in my arms."
Sophie, who earns up to pounds 5,000 a day, first met Matt in trendy London nightclub Browns at the end of January.
Next night he took her out for dinner.
Sophie knew how opposed Matt was to drugs so she decided to tell him that she'd taken them in the past but was no longer a user.
Matt said: "People had told me that Sophie used them so I was relieved to hear her say that.
"In fact I was thrilled. I thought, 'Oh wow, what a beautiful lady she is'.
"The following day two close friends of mine said she was lying.
"It didn't take long for me to realise my friends were right.
"The following night I met her at a club. I was wearing a William Hunt suit and Gucci shirt and Sophie looked gorgeous.
"She was in a great mood and we were having some great conversations.
"But then it became different. I'm not an idiot and I could tell. When she started getting erratic I was really disappointed. My first thought was to try and help her.
"But I couldn't do anything that night so I shut down my feelings. I left straight away. That is not my life.

"She rang the next day and apologised. She told me she didn't want to be like that."
Matt believed her and tried to keep their relationship going.
He said: "She genuinely wanted to sort herself out and take control of her life. I said I would help if I could.
"After that we saw each other a lot more. But although it was never said, she knew I didn't want her to take anything when she was with me.
"That was great. And then we spent three wonderful days together in a row.
"That was the real Sophie, the sweet young, caring girl. We just watched videos together and went to the cinema and relaxed.
"Sophie behind closed doors is a little teddy bear who just wants to find love and support.
"She is very loving and adores romance I think that is the quality that I adored in her the most."
But Matt's friends kept reminding him how the model was known as a drug user. Matt said: "After the first incident I thought everything was going to be OK and we went out a lot together.
"I did try and ask how she was feeling. I knew that she couldn't be OK all the time.
"I would say, 'Come on and tell me Sophie', but she wouldn't talk about it because I hate drugs so much.
"And she didn't want to tell me she was doing it because she couldn't help it."
