She is most remembered for her roles as Parvati Maheto “Paro” in the 1953 Hindi-language drama film Do Bigha Zamin, Malti in the 1955 Hindi-language romantic comedy film Munimji, Manorama in the 1961 Bollywood film Chhaya, Shobha in the 1964 Hindi family drama film Shehnai, Shobha in the 1971 Bollywood drama film Ganga Tera Pani Amrit, Sumitra Devi in the Hindi-language action crime film Deewaar, Bharati in the 1977 Hindi-language masala film Amar Akbar Anthony, and Lal’s Foster Mother in the 1999 Hindi-language crime drama film Lal Baadshah.
