Raquel Pempengco Says Courtney Blooding, Charice’s Manager, Was Daughter’s Former Girlfriend

Amid the growing controversy surrounding Charice and her admission that she is a lesbian, her mother, Raquel Pempengco, has revealed that the singer’s manager, Courtney Blooding, once became the girlfriend of her daughter.
“Nagbigay ako kay Courtney, tinanggap ko sa bahay, pinakisamahan ko,” the older Pempengco revealed while discussing why she does not approve of Alyssa Quijano, Charice’s current girlfriend.
“By this time, si Alyssa hindi ko matatanggap, dahil matagal ko nang kilala si Alyssa,” Pempengco is quoted as saying by ABS-CBN News.
According to the older Pempengco, her daughter is now not living under the same roof as her and other child, Carl.
Pempengco revealed that Charice left when she told her daughter that she does not approve of Quijano.
Quijano was a contestant in last year’s The X Factor, a reality talent discovery competition Charice joined as a judge.
Nonetheless, in a recent interview, Charice said that she and Quijano did not get close to each other just because of The X Factor.
Describing her girlfriend as “like my everything”, Pempengco said that she and Quijano have known each other since they were young and competing against each other in singing contests.
This is exactly the reason why Raquel Pempengco cannot accept Quijano as her daughter’s girlfriend.
According to her, “Si Alyssa ang isang kakumpitensiya niya (Charice) sa pagkanta, alam ni Charice 'yan. Kahit si Charice 'yan, kung maibabalik 'yung panahon, ayaw niyang makasama 'yung mga taong iyon, pero ang hinanakit ko lang, bakit ngayon, bakit ipinagmamalaki niyang doon siya masaya?”
Pempengco said that she once told her daughter, “Anak, pwede kang umuwi, pero huwag mong isama si Alyssa, dahil sobrang sakit na ng nararamdaman ko.”
Tess Relucio, Charice’s grandmother, recently spoke about Charice, her admission of her sexual preference and her revelation that Quijano is her girlfriend. According to Relucio and her daughter Pempengco, Alyssa’s family may be one of the family’s who used to malign Charice when they were still competing against each other. Relucio and Pempengco said that they cannot accept the fact that Charice is now feeding the Quijano family.
Meanwhile, Raquel Pempengco has also revealed that she had asked Charice to hide her sexual preference.
According to the older Pempengco, she told Charice that she had a public image “to take care of.”
Nonetheless, Pempengco said that as early as 2010 when she first came to know about the sexual preference of her daughter, she has come to accept it.
“Ang pinakiusap ko lang sa kanya, 'Alam ko ang nararamdaman mo. Kung pwede sana itago mo, dahil may pangalan kang iniingatan. Hindi mo naman kailangan ipakita sa buong mundo ang katayuan mo ngayon sa pamamagitan ng pag-iiba ng anyo,’” Pempengco said.
According to her, she once told Charice “‘Napakaraming lesbians diyan na hindi nagbabago. Kailangan pa bang ilahad mo na ito ako, lalaki na ako ngayon, iba na ang itsura ko ngayon? Na lalaki na ako dahil marami na akong tattoo?’”
“Pinakiusapan ko siya, kay Courtney pa lang, pinakiusap ko muna sa kanya na itago niyo muna hangga't maitatago ninyo,” she added, according to ABS-CBN News.
In another part of the interview, the mother stressed that she has really accepted her daughter’s sexual preference.
“Gusto ko lang po i-clear na matagal ko na pong natanggap. Nagsalita po ako kasi hindi ko na kaya 'yung hinuhusgahan ako na bakit hindi ko matanggap, eh anak ko 'yon,” she said.
“Kung sino man ang unang nakakaalam noon, ako 'yon, pero nakita ninyo, ilang taon ko itinago, dahil ayoko siya masira. Pero ngayong siya na ang nagsabi, tumulo nalang ang luha ko, dahil naramdaman kong hindi ako importante sa anak ko,” she added.
She also had a message about her daughter expressing that she is now really happy and feels “free”.
“Iyon ang nararamdaman niya sa ngayon, pero para kay Charice, huwag mo sasabihin na hindi naging masaya sa amin, sa loob ng 21 years, huwag mo sasabihin na hindi ka nakakakilos sa loob ng 21 years ng gusto mo ikilos,” she said.
“Dahil si Charice lang po ang makakaalam niyan, naging open ako sa bahay namin. Si Charice lang din ang makakapagsabi niyan, hindi man niya aminin in public, na lahat ng gusto nilang gawin sa buhay nila nasusunod nila,” she added.
However, Raquel Pempengco still hopes that her daughter would return to her.
“Naghihintay ako, kasi alam ko babalik siya eh, kung gugustuhin niya. 'Yun ang gusto kong iparating sa mga nakapaligid sa kanya -- kung importante sa kanila ang pamilya, ipamulat nila yun kay Charice... 'Yun lang naman ang pakiusap ko eh. Imulat kung gaano kahalaga ang pamilya sa atin,” she said.
She also added that she does not need to forgive her daughter because her daughter has not done anything to her.
“Hindi ko masasabing away 'yan eh, samaan lang ng loob. Misunderstanding na hindi niya naiintindihan kasi hindi siya nakikipagusap nang maayos,” Pempengco said.
“Mahal na mahal namin siya kahit anong mangyari. hindi naman kailangan bumitiw, dahil for life na ang aking role. Kung siya binitawan niya ako, hindi ako bibitiw,” she added.
