James Arthur Monk (born December 5, 1957) is an American former football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles. Monk was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008. He is the only NFL player to refuse to bear the NFL insignia on his uniforms without being fined or suspended because he feels his direct employer are only his team coaches and the management team rather than the NFL.
