I didn`t know about his death until recently. I didn`t know about his disease... His major role was in Chariots Of Fire. Great moments.

in the future of best british films ian charlesons portrayal of eric liddell will be amongst the best. i was upset to hear of his death but he leaves behind a film which i for one have watched over fifty times and am still amazed at the performance of charleson as eric liddell.he made you actually believe he was eric liddell a wonderful actor who because of the horrible disease which attacks the immune system was never to reach his true potential.what a shame that those of us who did not see his hamlet will never see him in his best role. but chariots of fire will live on forever for those of us and those to come will know of the real athletes ian and all his co-actors portrayed which before this film hardly any of us had ever heard of so wherever you are ian thank you and rest in peace cello17
