He made his first appearance in the film Parenthood (1989), as Kevin Buckman, receiving a nomination for a Young Artist Award as a supporting actor. He played the main character of Luke in The Witches in 1990, for which he was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor.
