Akzel is the pseudonym of André Soares, a Brazilian drum and bass producer and DJ from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is known for his solo releases and also for working and collaborating with Cybass, fellow Drum and bass producer from Rio de Janeiro. His earlier works fall under the neurofunk subgenre, which eventually evolved to the newborn techno-influenced genre called "Techno-DNB". His latest output is heavily influenced by the earlier Detroit techno style and most of his recent tracks have been made in collaboration with the Danish producer Pyro (Troels Knudsen). His late partnership with Pyro influenced the change on Akzel's production techniques and style.
