Kamala Devi Harris (; born October 20, 1964) is an American attorney. She is the 32nd and current Attorney General of California following the 2014 California state elections.During the 2014 election she won with 56.8% of votes while Ron Gold lost with 43.2% of votes. Harris has worked as an author and a politician and served as District Attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. First elected in 2003, defeating incumbent district attorney Terence Hallinan, she was re-elected in 2007. Harris is the first female, the first African-American, and the first Asian-American attorney general in California.
