Evans and 29-year-old Melanie flew back to Britain on Friday after a four- day break in sunny Tenerife. And meanwhile her boyfriend, actor Max Beesley, 27, was left home alone in London. Melanie, who used to present the Big Breakfast, has been seeing Max, who played Tom Jones, since March and he is said to be smitten with her. But Evans, 33, has openly bragged on his radio show that Melanie turned up at his flat at 3am recently - and the pair have been spotted out together in the West End of London. A friend said: "Max was really in love with Melanie and thought she was the girl for him." The ginger media mogul flew with Melanie from Luton airport to avoid being spotted at busier Heathrow or Gatwick airports. At the other end they were whisked by limousine to the pounds 500-a-night Grand Bahia del Duque hotel in the resort of Playa de las Americas. The couple, who went to great lengths to keep their relationship secret, were spotted by tourists on their return home. They were enjoying a drink together in the departure lounge. But while the Virgin radio boss was happy to pose for pictures, his holiday girl was more reluctant. She fled - and the pair celebrated the New Year separately. Womaniser Evans has dated a string of beauties, including on-off lover Suzi Aplin, pop star Kim Wilde, and Holly "Hotlips" Samos since he broke up with his DJ wife, Carol. And then he was linked with ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Their week-long romance was said to be a publicity stunt, but Geri was devastated when he dumped her. As a goodwill gesture Geri sent Chris an invitation to her Millenium party at her mansion near Slough, Berks.
Evans failed to turn up at the fancy dress bash attended by 200 other celebrities. Melanie and Chris were spotted together two weeks ago at the Pitcher and Piano Bar in London's Soho. One onlooker described them as being "all over each other, kissing". Another reveller said: "You could see that Chris was totally enthralled by Melanie." His spokeswoman denied the pair were having an affair. In fact, it was said that Evans was trying to win back Suzi Aplin.
