American Singer Ritchie Valens was born Richard Steven Valenzuela on 13th May, 1941 in Pacoima, San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, California, USA and passed away on 3rd Feb 1959 Clear Lake, Iowa, USA aged 17. He is most remembered for his single “La Bamba,” a rocked up version of a traditional Mexican wedding song, which was only a minor hit on its release, but has endured as a classic of the early Rock and Roll era, as well as perhaps the first example of Latin culture and Rock and Roll intersecting. His zodiac sign is Taurus.

Valens wrote this about his girlfriend, Donna Ludwig. They were both high school students at San Fernando High, and started dating in 1957 after meeting at a party where Valens was playing. They stayed together until Valens died in the plane crash that also killed Buddy Holly on February 3, 1959.
According to Donna Ludwig (who later became Donna Fox), Valens told her that he was writing a song about her, but the first time she heard it was on the radio in her car. Her girlfriends went justifiably crazy and got even more excited when the DJ played it again.
